Architecture is a monster in both imagination and in space-time. MASTER PROJECT Ritornellos - Chamber music building in the narrow center of Ålesund.
RECENT PROJECTS "Space for becoming" / "Rom for tilblivelse" (flash) Public in-between space for interaction, Master project for public 'in-between' space aiming to enhance the conditions for public interacion by strangemaking intermediary spaces of our built environment, in-between functional, cultural, habitual, service- and shopping-intensities. Problem: "Can a built intervention in the public in-between space make up frames for an extraordinary integration, horizontally & vertically among contemporary generations, and form an extreme societal condition?" User aspect: The '68-generation turns 70+ (pdf) Concept: The following venture will be transformed as an arctitectural text / intervention, and critisized through alternate contexts of programmatical contrasts: Public in-between space for interaction between people across vertical and horizontal axes of age, made visible with an emblematic venture: I) Lay down premices (syntax): II) Draw an entry: III) Re-enter the problem in the design: Design strategy: Transformations, decompositions and critiques, learning from the experiment of HOUSE X by Peter Eisenman
'Man[?]œuvre', project for an art pavillion, in a context of some thirty pavillions for works by the artists Bruce Nauman, Morten Stræde & Robert Smithson. I have chosen four œuvres by Smithson: Partially Buried Woodshed, Glue Pour, A Nonsite, Franklin, New Jersey & Chalk and Mirror Displacement. The project is a maneuver according to Lars von Trier's De fem benspænd, where the task meets more and more constraints or challenges along the crooked path of unfolding, a nonlinear process, that is. My intention is to make an architectural 'reading' of these works - forced open to 'writing' by the visitor, as (s)he moves around these avantgardistic works, the Woodshed included, "sheltered" by a provoking structure. As the works deal with the substance of 'surface materials'; earth, rocks, wood panels, chalk, mirrors and glue - and their relationship with the ground and other surfaces, I make a wooden shelter turn from surface into a spatial skin. Like any monstruous becoming is at first a skin, a body without organs. The project is part of a process of finding ways to express architectural becoming, spatially, and in real time. The next part of this will probably be a study related to the ongoing work by Thomas Leerberg on embedded spaces. Manœuvre has its own website, mastered by Thomas Larsen
